The GPON standard is defined by the G.984 ITU-T recommendation for PON networks. It includes four main components:   Optical Line Terminal The OLT can be considered the network manager of a gigabit passive optical network. Its role is to transmit and receive optical video, data and voice signals to and from the receiving ONT. The OLT transmits optical downstream signals at 1550 nm for video and 1490 nm for voice and data, and receives optical upstream signals at 1310 nm. This helps to avoid interruptions. GPON OLTs are installed at the service provider's location, usually a data center. Like the GPON ONT, the OLT converts the optical signals it receives into electrical signals. It is connected to an optical splitter via a backbone cable.   Fiber Optic Splitter A fiber optic splitter is a passive component that splits a single fiber optic cable into multiple individual fiber optic strands that can be branched and connected to individual optical network...

Specifications IoT devices are hardware devices, such as sensors, appliances, devices and other machines that collect and exchange data over the Internet. They are designed for certain applications that can be connected to other IoT devices. For example, an IoT device in your car can detect oncoming traffic and send an instant message to the person you're about to see about an upcoming delay.     The term "Internet of Things" or IoT was first coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999. But it wasn't until Gartner added IoT to its list of new emerging technologies in 2011 that it began to gain global traction. As of 2021, there are currently 21.7 billion connected devices worldwide, of which over 11.7 billion (54%) are IoT devices. This means that there are more IoT devices in the world than non-IoT devices. Watch the video below which will help you understand IoT and how it works. What is IoT? IoT is an umbrella term that refers to billions of physical objects or ...

While firewalls, that are the idea of a company community protection strategy, were round for pretty a few time, they've developed substantially because the cyber hazard panorama has changed. A next-technology firewall ngfw is a firewall designed to defend in opposition to the current cyber threats that corporations face. In addition to the center capabilities of a firewall, NGFWs combine more than a few different talents to defend in opposition to superior cyber threats. How an NGFW Works Firewalls outline community boundaries. All visitors passing via an NGFW is inspected through that firewall. This inspection permits the firewall to use protection coverage policies which allow or block visitors. An NGFW builds at the talents of a conventional firewall through incorporating extra features. For example, an NGFW operates on the software layer of the TCP/IP stack to use intrusion prevention system (IPS), antimalware, sandboxing and different protections. These capabilities...

Content creators who play PC games face a tough decision when it comes to buying a monitor. Many of the best professional monitors look great in games but don't have high refresh rates or adaptive sync. Gaming monitors, on the other hand, offer great image quality but lack essential features for demanding creatives. The Asus ProArt PA34CGV fills this gap at an affordable price.     Matt Smith Lift the monitor up, though, and it's even more impressive. This is a weighty display, with thick, sturdy plastic and a very heavy stand for added stability. The stand design includes a modestly sized flat base that minimizes its footprint on your desk. The stand is height adjustable, swivels, and tilts. If you need more freedom of movement, you can attach a third-party monitor stand or arm to the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount. Warning: The panel alone weighs about 17 pounds, testing the limits of Amazon's cheap monitor arm. You should plan on a better monitor arm from Ergotr...

The underwater world becomes increasingly important The news from Southern Cross/Siena is important in several ways. First, it shows the growing demand for subsea infrastructure. This is very important because 99% of the world's internet traffic goes through submarine cables, and Ciena expects this market to grow at around 40% per year in the near future. Submarine cables are certainly an area that is increasingly being driven by hyperscalers. Google, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), and Facebook/Meta Platforms (Nasdaq: META) are among the largest sponsors of submarine cable projects around the world.  Ciena project also demonstrates a growing list of requirements for advanced optical switching. Intelligence, mesh networks, and advanced coherent optics are prerequisites for the high-speed networks that will carry Internet traffic in the future. The collaboration between Ciena networks and Southern Cross NEXT is a step toward owning a piece of that future. Th...
